Study Guide - This is the yellow study guide that I printed out for you. It will be graded, so start working on it and plan to have it completed by May 1.
Checklist - This will get handed out next week. You do not need to fill it in, however these are the topics that the EOC will cover.
If you were absent on Friday, please do the reading and column A of the 1/2 sheet.
Our words this week are: interest group public opinion watchdog pollster political action committee (PAC) lobbyist symbolism If you need a new sheet to fill in, they can be found under the Study Resources tab above. The document below contains the rubric that will be used to grade them. Our 10 vocab words will be due on Friday (also our test day).
Class Padlet WallsAs we have learned, Interest Groups are people who have mutual believes and work together to promote them. Sometimes as they advocate for their cause they use propaganda. Today you’ll find an Interest Group that appeals to you (or make one up) and create a piece of propaganda for them using one of the techniques we've learned about.
Step 1: Check out www.dosomething.org. You’ll find ideas about what other teenagers are doing and find a group that might peak your interest. Step 2: Choose your cause. Decide on a group that aligns with what you believe in, and learn a little bit more about what they are doing to make a difference. Step 3: Create your propaganda piece. You need to persuade people to join or help your interest group and its cause. Your piece can be done as a poster (in Word), a Power Point, a website (like Weebly) or another electronic format. You must use 2 propaganda techniques. If you’d prefer to make 2 separate pieces you can. (Just be sure to post both of them.) Step 4: Save your assignment to the desktop labeled with your name. (Example: save as Dawn Williams) Step 5: Post your propaganda on your class’ Padlet Wall. (Link is on class website.) Step 6: Create an Interest Group Document with the following information: Interest Group Name What they do/believe What 2 types of propaganda you used and an explanation of how you used it. Save it as: name interest group information. (Example: Dawn Williams Interest Group Information) Step 7: Save Interest Group Document to desktop and add to the class’ Padlet wall. Step 8: Delete your assignment from the desktop. Rubric: 2 Propaganda Techniques used in propaganda piece and explained in Interest Group Document – 25 points Name of Interest Group on propaganda piece and Interest Group Document- 25 points Description of what your interest group does and their believes – 25 points Post Propaganda and Interest Group Document to Padlet Wall – 25 points |
